Delete your account
How to delete your account in the Joldar app and on joldar.com, and what happens to your data
App and developer
This page is about Joldar, the car rental platform: the Joldar mobile app for Android and iOS and the joldar.com website. The developer and personal data operator is JoldarCom LLP, BIN 261140002202, 280 Baizakov St, Almaty.
In the app and on the website, deleting your account is called “Close account”. A closed account cannot be restored.
Delete your account in the app
- Open the Joldar app and sign in.
- Open the “Profile” tab in the bottom bar.
- Tap “Account”.
- At the very bottom of the screen, tap “Close account”.
- Read what is deleted and what is kept. If the app lists unfinished items, settle them first (see below).
- Choose how to confirm: “SMS code” or “Password” (if you have set a password). For SMS, tap “Get SMS code” and enter the code you receive; otherwise enter your password.
- Tap “Close account”, then tap “Yes, close it” in the “Close your account?” dialog.
Delete your account on the website
- Sign in on joldar.com with the “Log in” button at the top of the page (sign-in page: /login).
- Open the /account/close page. The “Close account” link on your account page (/account) opens it too.
- If the page shows “The account cannot be closed yet”, finish the items listed there and come back to the page.
- In the “Confirm” section, enter your password or confirm with an SMS code (the “Get an SMS code” button).
- Tick “I understand this cannot be undone” and click “Close my account for good”.
Request by email
If you cannot sign in to the app or the website, write to privacy@joldar.com from the email address linked to your account, or give the phone number the account is registered to in your message. We will reply within the period set by law.
What to settle first
You cannot close the account while any of the following is open; the app and the website list what is left:
- Unfinished trips and bookings, as a renter or as a host: booking requests, confirmed and ongoing trips, and trips where the car has been returned but the trip is not closed yet.
- Open disputes and damage claims under review.
- Unpaid extra charges and fines.
- For hosts: earnings Joldar has not yet paid out to you (you can close the account once they arrive), or an amount you owe Joldar.
If you have questions, write to Joldar Support: support@joldar.com.
What is deleted
- When the account is closed, your name, email, profile photo and saved cards are anonymized at once.
- Your password and your Google and Apple sign-in links are deleted, and you are signed out on every device.
- Your cars are removed from search for good.
- Your phone number is freed: you can sign up with it again, but as a new account.
What is kept and for how long
- Booking, payment and contract records
- For the period the law requires.
- KYC documents and selfie
- For 3 years after the account is closed (the limitation period under Article 178 of the Civil Code of Kazakhstan), then deleted.
- Trip photos and chat
- 3 years after the trip ends; if there is a dispute, until it is resolved.
- Payment and accounting documents
- For the period set by accounting legislation.
